Since we’ve returned there hasn’t been a moment to spare to sit and share the last pictures of our trip up north. All the activity came to a sudden halt today when I woke up with something akin to the flu. So hours in bed have afforded me time to share with you:)

All in all it was a great trip and a fun memory. The best and most unusual moment, though, is when my busy girl passed out asleep on the plane and stayed asleep as I got off the plane until we buckled her into her car seat. His never happens so she must have been truly worn out.

Day two up here was relaxing. Everyone was recovering from the party so the kids had fun playing outside while the adults watched football. I was somewhere in between mostly playing with the kids.

Sienna and I are on a trip to Kentucky for my Dads big 50th birthday. She has flown before, but this is the first trip she can remember getting in an airplane. It’s been fun and … Interesting. She did pretty well on the plane and even had a nap in the car on the way from the airport to the farm. My present to my Dad was a big hit. It was a photo book of his first 50 years. It was great watching him relive some of those moments from his life with all the loved ones and friends in attendance. The party went til after midnight but Sienna and I crashed around 9 for a restless and fitful nights sleep. I think we got our best rest between dawn and 8:30. Now that I’m all rested I’m ready to enjoy some more of this great weather and the all the fall colors.

For centuries word of mouth has been the best way to bring in new business and today with sites like Facebook, word of mouth is more powerful than ever. Zulilly is one of my favorite sites that harnesses that tool. They send out daily emails of the latest brands in children’s clothes, books, women’s clothes, shoes, and home goods. The price you pay for receiving these great deals is simply giving them your email address. Not only do you have top choices in brands sent direct to you to shop from daily, but you get them at great discounts. When you choose to “like” these items or share them on your facebook and a friend decides to join and buy something, you get a $15 credit. By simply clicking what I’ve liked on Zulilly, I’ve managed to get a pair of squeaker shoes, a romper, and some other cute out fits for Sienna for only the cost of shipping.

Fashion tip- Consignment Sales

Having a daughter means you get lots of clothes at your baby shower. It’s amazing how full Sienna’s closet was! As she grew into a toddler though, she out grew a lot of those gifts. We are on a pretty tight budget so that calls for me to be thrifty when it comes to fashion. I am fortunate to have several friends with daughters a bit older than mine so we receive a good amount of hand me downs. As she gets older those get less and less as well. I’m guessing its because kids destroy more clothes the older they get and the harder they play. My budget is usually $3 to $5 an item. It can be a challenge to find cute and fashionable clothes for price points that low. Especially for shoes. That’s why I shop consignment. We happen to have a few great consignment stores nearby and I make sure to get on their lists for special sales and end of season blow outs.
